By now, you have probably encountered numerous reports concerning the class action lawsuit filed against the National Association of Realtors (NAR) regarding real estate commissions. The media coverage has generated a considerable amount of uncertainty. Undoubtedly, changes are on the horizon, with many specifics currently under scrutiny in the legal system, a process expected to unfold over the coming months.
During this transitional phase, professionals across different sectors of the real estate industry such as agents, brokerages, lenders, escrow, title companies, and the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) are managing the temporary uncertainty and instability.
What remains evident and unchangeable today:
The buying and selling of homes will persist.
Successful transactions entail two essential components.
Consumers universally seek protection, transparency, and equitable treatment.
" NAR has worked hard for years to resolve this litigation in a manner that benefits our members and American consumers. It has always been our goal to preserve consumer choice and protect our members to the greatest extent possible. This settlement achieves both of those goals." ~ NAR interim CEO Nykia Wright
